Metallic mirrors
Metallic mirrors are widely used due to a moderate level of reflection over a very broad spectral range. Gold coatings have the highest reflectance in infrared, silver is most efficient in visible range, while aluminium is economical coating over entire 300-IR region.
Additional layer of dielectric material protects the coating of the mirror in order to make them durable.
