Plano-concave lenses

Plano-concave lenses

These lenses are thicker at the edge than in the centre and flat on one side. Plano-concave lenses are used in beam expansion systems and for increasing the focal length of optical systems.

They are often used to expand the beam of high peak power pulsed lasers. A beam incident on a concave surface will be focused to a point outside the instrument. These lenses are widely used in telescopes, microscopes, collimators, optical transmitters, spoils and many other optical systems. These lenses can be made of various materials: BK7 type glass, fused silica UV FS, calcium fluoride (CaF2). There is a possibility of applying a suitable anti-reflective layer adapted to a specific wavelength or broadband. These lenses have a negative focal length from -25 mm to -1000 mm. Standard diameters are 12.5 mm, 25 mm, 40 mm in metric system and 1/2 ", 1", 1.5" in imperial system.
